Dr Joanna Manson, Royal London Hospital What is the first science you remember doing? I had this brilliant book when I was about 8 yrs old. It had looks of practical experiments which demonstrated scientific principles like placing a glass of water on a sunny window-sill to create a rainbow on the paintwork, making crystal gardens out of saturated salt solutions or counting the seconds between thunder and lightning to tell you how far away the storm is. I didn’t know it was science then, but I thought it was great. Once in school, science was fun because practicals always involved bangs, colours and flashing lights! |
Partners for this exhibit also include the Queen Mary, University of London and the William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Denistry.
