Dr Andrew Walsh, University College London What’s the funniest/strangest/most surprising experience you have had in your career? During my PhD I had the to opportunity to work in Canada for 3 months. I was in Edmonton and by the time I was due to leave it had got very cold. One morning I started walking to my office but had forgotten to dry my hair properly. By the time I got there it had frozen solid and was moving as a single block. It took me a while to work out what was going on. |

Dr Jim Wild, Lancaster University What inspired you to become a scientist? When I was little, my Dad had a collection of slides showing the Apollo missions to the moon. I loved looking at them and I can remember thinking “why is it always dark in space?”. It wasn’t hard to find out the answer, but I wanted to find out more! More questions. More answers! When I realised that this was what science was about, I knew what I wanted to do. |
Other partners for this exhibit include Imperial College London and STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
