Royal Society Open Science is pleased to announce that we are working with the Alan Turing Institute to launch our inaugural cross-disciplinary special collection on City Analytics. Please register your interest and join us at the Alan Turing Institute on Tuesday 21 February from 2pm–4pm for this exciting event.

A number of our authors (some of whom are active with the Alan Turing Institute itself) will present short talks about their published work, and members of the Royal Society Open Science editorial team will be on hand to answer queries about the journal after the event. We hope to see you there.

The City Analytics special collection was edited by Des Higham, Michael Batty, Luís Bettencourt, Danica Vukadinovic Greetham and Peter Grindrod, and all articles are open access.

As the proportion of the global human population that inhabits cities continues to grow, it is ever more important to understand urban spaces. Comprising more than ten papers, covering a range of topics in this newly emerging field, City Analytics explores the intersection of Big Data, novel mathematics and statistics and their application to urban environments.
